An existing user is anyone who previously purchased SpiceFX DIRECT from Pixelan. Sorry, copies from friends or others do not qualify. We will confirm your user status by checking our user database. Upgrade FAQs Is my existing version of SpiceFX compatible with Vista or Windows 7? If you are using Vista or Windows 7, see the chart below for whether an upgrade to SpiceFX 5.0 is required.
Must my existing version of SpiceFX be on my computer for the 5.0 upgrade to install? Yes. The SpiceFX 5.0 upgrade installer will complete the install only if the correct prior purchased SpiceFX (see the red text in the above chart) is detected on your computer. If you do not have the older SpiceFX installed, use our re-download form to get it for free. NOTE: Even if your existing SpiceFX version is not compatible with Vista or Windows 7, it can be installed (but not run) on Vista or Windows 7 as a prelude to installing a SpiceFX 5.0 upgrade. If you are using Windows 7, see this page for how to install Movie Maker and SpiceFX 5.0 correctly in Windows 7. I don't know which upgrade deal above I qualify for. How can I figure that out? As mentioned above, choosing the correct upgrade on our order form will ensure your SpiceFX 5.0 upgrade will properly install. Here are two ways to figure out what you previously purchased from us: • • What's the difference between a Wizard and a Pack? Wizards make CUSTOM titles, transitions, or effects for Movie Maker -- giving you the power to create a 'just right' look for your projects. Custom titles, overlays, pan/zoom effects, picture-in-picture effects, accents/highlights/borders, and soft/organic transitions are possible. The customizing process is easy and visual, but does take a few clicks. Wizard items then are exported into Movie Maker, where they can be applied to clips just like built-in items. PACKS, in contrast, are collections of PRE-MADE add-on transitions or effects that are ready to drag-and-drop immediately onto clips. Packs are not adjustable or customizable, but include lots of handy presets for common visual needs. And they include several types of effects (such as Animation, Correction, and Cosmetic Effects) and transitions (such as Particles, PageFX, and DepthFX) that are not available in the Wizards. It's really best to have BOTH. What's changed in the Wizards between SpiceFX 4.0 and 5.0? The BIG news in 5.0 is we have added two NEW Wizards long requested by Movie Maker users, plus major enhancements to all existing Wizards. The two new Wizards are: • TitleFX PRO -- to visually/easily make custom re-positionable titles for Movie Maker. For many users, this addition alone will be worth the upgrade! Details • OverlayFX PRO -- to visually/easily overlay and enhance any still-image (logos, graphics, frames, etc.) seamlessly on top of any Movie Maker image. Up to six overlay layers are possible! Details For the major enhancements to existing Wizards, see What's New in 5.0? What's changed in the Packs from 4.0 to 5.0? Nothing. SpiceFX 5.0 Packs are identical to 4.0 Packs. Still a great value when you prefer a wide range of professional PRE-MADE drag-and-drop effects and transitions. I do not have an Internet connection on my video editing computer. Can I transfer the upgrade download to a different PC? Yes, no problem. The download will arrive as a single .exe file (approximately 12 MB in size) that can be placed on a CD-R or other removable media for installing in a different PC. |
