It has no time limit but will show an X over the applied effects. PanZoom Maker FAQs How do I adjust the duration of a pan/zoom effect? Like any built-in effect in Movie Maker, the effect's duration is determined by the length of the clip. If you want the pan/zoom move to be only part of a clip's duration, then "snip" the clip in the timeline into two or more pieces and apply the pan/zoom to just a piece of the clip. Can different custom pan/zoom effects be in different Movie Maker projects of mine? Yes. If you create a new set of custom pan/zoom effects for a new project, but later need to re-edit or re-render an older project, the older project will still retain its set of custom pan/zoom effects. Cool! All PanZoom Maker info is built into the Movie Maker project file. How many custom effects can I add to a project? After you click the Activate button, then re-start your Movie Maker project, the latest set of 25 custom pan/zoom effect will be available to apply. Any previously applied custom effects from an earlier set of 25 will still be retained in the project, however. If you previously applied the "Pan Zoom Custom 1" effect to a clip in the project, for example, that clip will still have that pan/zoom effect even after you've activated a fresh set of 25 pan/zoom icons. Only any NEW applying of Pan/Zoom Custom 1 will be different. Therefore, you can create and apply an UNLIMITED amount of custom pan/zoom effects in a project. Only one set of 25 custom icons will be available to apply from the Video Effects list at any time, however. Is there a way to have more than 25 custom pan/zoom icons available at once in Movie Maker? Yes, but it requires a simple XML workaround. Here are the steps: 1. With Movie Maker closed, go into your ../Program Files/Movie Maker/Shared/AddOnTFX folder. Copy the PixelanPanZoomCustomPack.xml and PixelanPanZoomCustomPack.dll files. Paste them in the same folder, giving both of the pasted files a different name, such as "PixelanPanZoomCustomPack1". 2. Double-click the renamed XML file ("PixelanPanZoomCustomPack1.xml" if you used the name suggested above). In Notepad, edit the numbers assigned to all ten effect names. For example, "Pan/Zoom Custom 1" should be re-named "Pan/Zoom Custom 26 ", "Pan/Zoom Custom 2" should be re-named "Pan/Zoom Custom 27 ", etc. 3. Open PanZoom Maker. Set up the 25 additional pan/zoom effects you want, then click the Activate button. This step will create Pan/Zoom Custom Effects numbered from 1 to 25. 4. Re-start Movie Maker. Now there will be 50 custom pan/zoom icons altogether. The first set of ten custom effects you created will numbered from 26 - 50 (due to Step 2 above) and the second set will be numbered 1 - 25 (due to Step 3 above). You can repeat these steps indefinitely to add further sets of 25. How do I create a custom pan/zoom effect that ties into one of the 99 pre-built ones in Pack E2? In Pan/Zoom Maker, set the Zoom percentage to 75%, and the X and/or Y value to .90 (positive or negative, as applicable). To pan to the upper left corner then hold there until the clip is finished, for example, you would do these steps: 1. Click the Start button in PanZoom Maker, then set whatever values you desire for the beginning of the clip. 2. Click the End button. Set Zoom to 75%, and enter X = -.90 and Y = -.90. Click the Activate button, taking note of which pan/zoom custom effect number (from 1 to 25) this effect is labeled as. 3. In Movie Maker, at the frame you want the clip to start its hold after panning, split the clip into two pieces (using the Clip > Split menu command in Movie Maker). 4. Apply the Pan/Zoom custom effect to the first part of the split clip. Apply the "Pan/Zoom A1 Hold" video effect from Pack E2 to the second part of the snipped clip. You're done! Can I share my custom pan/zoom effects settings with others who have PanZoom Maker? Yes, saved settings are transferable, such as to a colleague who has PanZoom Maker also -- so they can instantly load into their Movie Maker whatever custom effect you already created. To load any custom set, click the Load button above. Will this work in Movie Maker 3 for Windows Vista? Yes. SpiceFX Packs 3.0 users who bought before February 1, 2007, however, must freshly download and install the 3.0 purchase (use your previously provided purchase info). When I click PanZoom Maker's button to activate my 25 custom pan/zoom effects in Movie Maker, nothing happens. Why? You must run Windows as an 'administrator' account for PanZoom Maker to be able to modify the .xml file that will insert the 25 custom effects. If you normally run Windows as a 'user' account, just temporarily log in as an administrator account when using the PanZoom Maker tool. When you are done and back editing in Movie Maker, once again you can be a 'user' account if you prefer. Previous | Next |
