Packs -- General Tips What's the difference between a Wizard and a Pack? Wizards make CUSTOM titles, transitions, or effects for Movie Maker -- giving you the power to create a 'just right' look for your projects. Custom titles, overlays, pan/zoom effects, picture-in-picture effects, accents/highlights/borders, and soft/organic transitions are possible. The customizing process is easy and visual, but does take a few clicks. Wizard items then are exported into Movie Maker, where they can be applied to clips just like built-in items. PACKS, in contrast, are collections of PRE-MADE add-on transitions or effects that are ready to drag-and-drop immediately onto clips. Packs are not adjustable or customizable, but include lots of handy presets for common visual needs. And they include several types of effects (such as Animation, Correction, and Cosmetic Effects) and transitions (such as Particles, PageFX, and DepthFX Transitions) that are not available in the Wizards. It's really best to have BOTH. Where is the Wizards tool? Double-click the Wizards for Movie Maker shortcut on your desktop. When the custom items you make in a Wizard are exported into Movie Maker, they will appear at the TOP of Movie Maker's list of transitions or effects. One exception: exported results from the TitleFX PRO Wizard will appear in the Title Animations section of Movie Maker's built-in title tool. Where do Packs appear? After installing SpiceFX (demo or purchased version), the pre-made Packs will appear in Movie Maker's list of transitions or effects, just like standard items. Drag-and-drop them exactly the same, too. Do SpiceFX work with any media/image? Yes, ANY video or still-image clips in the Video track of the Movie Maker timeline can be enhanced with SpiceFX. And that is true for any output size Movie Maker supports, such as DV, HD, 16:9 wide screen, etc. Note: Although the built-in preview in a Wizard only displays still-images for reference to help you customize a title, transition, or effect, the exported Wizards results in Movie Maker apply fine to video clips, too. Icons of your transitions and effects show colors or images. Do they apply such colors? No. We just have an example image in each icon to clearly show the transition or effect's look and to make our categories more recognizable. What you will see when applying a SpiceFX transition or effect is YOUR visual content. How do I adjust the duration of SpiceFX transitions? The same way as ANY transition in Movie Maker in the Timeline (NOT Storyboard) view of Movie Maker, drag either overlapping clip to shorten or lengthen the transition overlap. Tip: Use the Tools > Options command (Advanced panel) in Movie Maker to set the default duration of applied transitions. How can I apply a SpiceFX transition or effect to several clips all at once? Right-click the transition or effect you want to use, then choose Copy. In Timeline or Storyboard view, hold down the Shift key and click on several consecutive clips to select them all. Now right-click and choose Paste. (This technique works for any transition or effect, not just ours.) Tip: Use the Tools > Options command (Advanced panel) in Movie Maker to set the default duration of applied transitions. How do I apply a SpiceFX effect to just a portion of a clip's entire duration? 1. In the Movie Maker timeline (Timeline view, NOT Storyboard view), select the clip. 2. Drag the blue vertical time marker in Movie Maker's timeline to the frame where you want to start or end the effect. 3. Choose the Clip > Split command to split the clip into two pieces. 4. Repeat Step 2 and 3 as desired to define the length of the effect. 5. Now drag and drop the SpiceFX effect desired from the Effects menu of Movie Maker onto one of the clip pieces. That's all! How can I vary the power of an effect, even though Movie Maker doesn't provide controls to adjust it? By applying a SpiceFX effect to a Movie Maker clip more than once, even more is creatively possible. Each pass can be optimized to a particular aspect of the desired look. Experiment! Where is the Please Read First text file with the latest info? After installing our demo or purchased SpiceFX, look in your Windows Start menu at Programs > Pixelan > SpiceFX for Movie Maker. How do I uninstall SpiceFX? Choose Uninstall SpiceFX from ../Program Files/Pixelan/SpiceFX for Movie Maker. Click here for other help |
